We are hiring!
Lembas is a wholesale wholefood business operating from Heeley/Meersbrook in Sheffield.
We are a workers co-operative and we have been in business since 1983 (Operating as a co-op since 2016).
We currently have 3 vans, making deliveries to Sheffield, Nottingham, Leeds, The Peak District, Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham on a regular basis.
We supply shops, cafes, restaurants, cinemas, hospitals, as well as private customers. We are also open to the public on a cash and carry basis.
Our work force currently numbers 14. We have 7 full time workers and 7 part time.Our current rate of pay is Ł10 per hour with the potential for bonuses depending on company performance.
We operate a 6 month probationary period for new employees during which the rate of pay is Ł9 per hour.
Due to one of our long term members reaching retirement we are taking the opportunity to have a cabinet reshuffle, thus creating a full time post of 40 hours per week.
Working hours are generally 7.30am-4.30pm or 8am-5pm which includes 2 x 15 minute tea breaks (coffee is also available) and 1 x 30 minute lunch break, which are unpaid.
The position available will primarily be in the sales team, but there will also be some warehouse work involved.
The sales team are our first line response, dealing with customer enquiries, processing orders (which are submitted via phone, email and our website), liaising with the warehouse and generally being awesome.
The warehouse team are responsible for picking orders, loading the vans, dealing with goods- in and keeping the warehouse looking good and running smoothly. Many of our products are in 25kg sacks so a general level of fitness is required.
As a co-op member you will also be a director of the company and contribute to the ongoing development of the business. We have regular meetings and encourage new ideas from all members.
Please be aware that Lembas is a warehouse environment – no one expects you to wear a suit, not even for an interview!
The successful candidate will have a good standard of literacy, numeracy and an aptitude for computers.
They will be familiar with Microsoft software and be confident in information retrieval.
Lembas operates a bespoke computer system so a willingness to learn is also essential.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise are also necessary.
Must have an excellent phone manner.
Web design/SQL experience would be a bonus.
An interest in wholefoods and a commitment to the principles of the co-operative movement are also desirable.
